clicking settings after changing the form wipes the changes

IDK why but I just clicked settings to change the submit button text and as soon as it opened the screen changed from wide (which I set the design of the form to Wide and modified the blocks on each page..) losing my progress (all changes). this is a form that was made before the recent updates. then when I try to re-implement the changes it doesn’t display in the center on the form, just in the right side panel. and when I click publish to save and hope that it resuscitates my changes, it says in red error text popup “the submitted text must be a valid text” won’t let me publish.
